This week’s featured 2017 Miller Audio Contest Runner-Up is Andrea Rangecroft, whose “Send Me Your Location” was the selected runner-up in our Documentary category. We’re so excited to be able to share this project with you, along with some history about “Send Me Your Location” from Andrea herself:

“Dr Ahmad Terkawi is a Syrian pharmacist living in Sweden with his wife and two children. Ahmad co-founded the Maritime Organization for Following Up and Rescue and from November 2015 to April 2016, he and his organization’s twelve volunteers used their mobile phones to help around 28,000 refugees safely make the perilous sea crossing from Turkey to Greece in small rubber boats. Ahmad and his family made the journey themselves in 2015. Today, they all have permanent leave to remain in Sweden – Ahmad and his wife have started Swedish lessons so they can convert their medical qualifications and start work while the kids are settling into school.”

Andrea Rangecroft is an independent audio producer based in London. She produces short form documentaries for BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts and co-produces the “Sound Matters” podcast with Tim Hinman. Andrea is also a regular producer on the BBC World Service’s Outlook programme and creates audio for exhibitions. Previously she’s made documentaries for BBC Radio 1 and 4, weekly music shows on Radio 2 and 1xtra and been a reporter for Swedish public radio.
