Angel
All day, I waited
for something to happen.
I didn’t drive
to your funeral.
& I think you’d
understand—
gas money,
longing,
travel
time. Too real
to think of rope.
Unraveled
hanging knot
of string—
Last time
I saw you,
hair pulled back,
a buzzed butch turned
blonde ponytail.
I only wish I knew you
happy then.
