Beyond the Death Story
It’s always refreshing to read a story that isn’t a death story, or an affair story, or any other story about a well-explored subject. This past week I read a manuscript that stood out because of its uniqueness. It was well written and interesting, so I passed it on to someone else to read. In the end, we rejected it for various reasons, but the story made it further in the process than many submissions do.
The point here is not to be different just to be different. Rather, I will always appreciate a fresh look at human relationships or at some aspect of humanity. Of course it’s still possible to write a fresh and insightful death story or affair story. I just don’t come across them very often. If I do, I happily pass them on to others to read.
