David Zoby was born in Norfolk , Virginia. He earned his MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University. His first book, Fire on the Beach (Scribner 2001), tells the history of Richard Etherbridge and his all-African American crew of coastal lifesavers. David teaches at Casper College in Wyoming.  [2007]
