UNBOUND Book Festival Podcast: An Interview with Melissa Febos
In this week’s episode of The Missouri Review’s Soundbooth Podcast, we chat with writer Melissa Febos. Melissa received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, and she currently teaches creative writing at Monmouth University. Melissa was a panelist on two panels at Columbia’s annual UNBOUND Book Festival: “The 51%,” which gathered four incredibly talented women writers to discuss the current role of women in literature; and “Songs of Myself,” which considered the different methods of writing memoir. Melissa shares her own experience in writing memoir with us as we talk about her recently released essay collection, Abandon Me (Bloomsbury, 2017), which deals with themes of love and abandonment, chronicling a relationship in real time as she works her way through a complex family dynamic.
Interview conducted and edited by TMR Audio Intern Brooke DuLany.
