Our contests support the mission of the Missouri Review and are an exciting way to discover and promote new voices.
Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize
Genres: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry
Prizes: $5,000 prize for one winner in each genre, plus publication and promotion; three runners-up and ten finalists are named; every entry is considered for publication
Submission period: Opens in summer each year with an October deadline
Perkoff Prize
Entries must engage with health, wellness, and medicine.
Genres: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry
Prizes: $1,000 prize for one winner in each genre, plus publication and promotion; one runner-up and five finalists are named; every entry is considered for publication
Submission period: Opens in January each year with March deadline
